Informing Voters to Empower Democracy
Our Mission
In 2026, 250 years after the United States declared its independence, InformYourVote.com is leading an effort to bring transparency and accountability to government by helping Americans become independent of a voter education system based on political advertising, paid for by special interest donors.
Our mission is to transform the way voters get information about candidates and, in doing so, help facilitate a better informed democracy.
Our History
During the past 15 years, InformYourVote.com‘s has deployed five iterations of a neutral, non-partisan, advertising-free candidates video debate platform to help build a stronger democracy.
For the June 2021 New York City ranked-choice mayoral primary election, InformYourVote implemented an innovative marketing strategy that attracted the largest viewing audience of any online voter resource. In a race won by less than 1% of the 900,000 votes cast, more than 150,000 New Yorkers viewed 320,000 short candidate videos on InformYourVote.org’s YouTube channel.
We are a 100% independent effort. We receive no funding, advertising, or advice from any political party, candidate, or existing organization.
Inform Your Vote’s founder and non-profit funder Jonathan Greenberg is a nationally renowned financial journalist and a Web 1.0 digital media pioneer whose Internet company, Gist.com, was one of only 14 companies to win the first annual Webby Award in 1997.
The development of our InformYourVote.com platform began on October 6, 2011, with the five-person Democratic Party primary for an open seat in California’s 2nd Congressional District.
In subsequent years, the candidates video debate platform was used for city council and county supervisor races. During the 2020 congressional primaries, the platform was improved and expanded to deploy two dozen congressional debates nationwide, working with local partners including the Atlanta Press Club’s Loudermilk-Young debates and the Indiana Town Halls.
